May 1, 2010 Issue 1
Welcome to quality poetry and fiction from Pig in a Poke!
Back from the dead ... just when you thought we were bacon! Welcome from poetry and essay editor Harry Calhoun and fiction editor and Web designer Trina Allen.
In its heyday back in the 1980s, "The Pig" featured work by Charles Bukowski, Jim Daniels, Louis McKee, Lyn Lifshin, Judson Crews and many more. In 2010, we’re bringing you a literary journal in electronic format that is striving for that same quality.
We hope you enjoy this first issue, which includes work by Jim Daniels, Lyn Lifshin, Louis McKee, Howie Good, Carol Lynn Grellas, Robin Stratton, Burgess Needle, Sharmagne Leland-St. John, and other talented writers. That might be a “mess” of talent, but we think you’ll agree — this ain’t no sty!
Go to the Essay section to read two superb essays from my new friend Anne Woodman and my old friend James Heller Levinson. And Trina Allen, our fiction editor, has selected some stories that have added another dimension to the magazine.
Harry Calhoun,
Editor
